I've known Scott Bennett for about a decade. In addition to having him as one of my closest friends, I have had the pleasure of working with him in many facets of music: songwriting, producing, and performing live. After he co-produced my own piano CD, Deerpath, with me, I encouraged him to record some of his own beautiful instrumentals. He conceded. This album is a handful of songs from his vast catalog of styles, and is just a small example of the talent and versatility he possesses as both a composer and instrumentalist. In fact, Scott played all the instruments on the CD except for the trumpet, which was played by Deerpath artist Jeannie Tanner.

Scott was writing instrumental pieces as soon as he could reach the piano keys. Some songs are, in fact, from nearly that long ago. Other songs, like "Lapin Agile" were actually written during the recording of this CD.

Although this recording can be enjoyed peripherally, our hope is that you will also listen to the care and artistry of composition as well as the performance.
